Tutorial: Semantic Mashups with Wandora

Abstract: Wandora is a general purpose Topic Maps editor application with a vast collection of information extractors. Extractors enable Wandora user to aggregate information from various open data sources. In this hands-on tutorial participants are shown how to create and publish multidimensional information mashups with Wandora and open data sources such as GeoNames and YouTube.

Synopsis

Method of the tutorial is hands-on. Participants are encouraged to try and use Wandora during the tutorial. After the tutorial participants can

  • Create and modify topic maps with Wandora.
  • Extract information from open data sources with Wandora.
  • Build semantic mashups.
  • Publish created mashups using Wandora’s embedded HTTP server.

Intended audience

Audience should have a basic knowledge of Topic Maps. As the tutorial is hands-on, each participant should have a computer and it would be preferred if there is a pre-installed Wandora at the computer.
